Sports nutrition helps you optimally fuel yourself to maximize training and conditioning, and enhance performance.
Our sports dietitian (Sports RD) provides these services for varsity student-athletes:
- Individual appointments
- ISAK somatotype body composition assessments
- Supplement evaluation and banned substance avoidance
- Team presentations
- Dining hall tours and position group meetings
For concerns, such as fatigue, menstrual dysfunction, involuntary weight loss or weight gain, guidance for weight class athletes, and improving performance, make a Nutrition appointment.
For an individual assessment, make an appointment. For team assessments, make a request through your athletic trainer.
Athletic Medicine and the Athletics Department require student-athletes who are considering taking a supplement to meet with the Sports RD first. We recommend that you review the USADA’s information on supplement safety and familiarize yourself with the Department of Athletics’ supplement policy (page 24).
The Sports RD provides presentations on:
- Performance nutrition and competition fueling tactics
- Eating on the road
- Transitioning out of competitive athletics or into the next level of competition
- Nutrition for immune system support
- Recovering from injuries
Other topics are available by request. If your team is interested in a specific topic, make a request through your coach or team captains.
Meet with the Sports RD as a group for questions about navigating the dining halls or eating clubs, for position specific needs and goals, or for shared concerns.
