Tea & Talk: Self-Esteem and Perfectionism in the US

Tea & Talk is an informal weekly discussion group designed for international students, scholars and spouses, focused on issues that are common for adjusting to life in the U.S. and the Princeton campus culture.

We’re bombarded by messages from the media that we must be the best, appear smart, act perfect and stay happy forever.  However, the pursuit of perfection is associated with unrealistic goals and can affect our self-esteem. Perfectionism is often mistakenly seen as necessary for success, but in reality perfectionist attitudes interfere with success and learning. In this informal workshop, we will discuss some myths and realities of perfectionism, and reflect upon ways to be healthy strivers. Guest: John Kolligian

Feel free to attend as many (or as few) topics as your schedule allows.
