Counseling and Psychological Services offers clinical field placements for MSW students in their second practicum year. Social work interns are students in training who provide services to Princeton University undergraduate and graduate students under skilled supervision. ResponsibilitiesSocial work interns:conduct Initial Consultations (brief triage appointments connecting students to care)provide ongoing therapy to individual clientsassist with facilitating CPS groups and offering outreach programs participate in CPS Specialized Treatment Teams, and assist with other duties as determined in consultation with the social work supervisor. Training and SupervisionCPS Social work interns also participate in a range of clinical training and development opportunities. To ensure that the services provided by social work interns meet CPS standards, interns are closely supervised by on-site licensed masters-level clinicians who have completed the Seminar in Field Instruction, a 20-hour social work supervision training program. Social work interns receive at least one hour of individual supervision a week and other opportunities for individual, group, and peer supervision. Program GoalsOur goal is to provide a rich fieldwork experience that enables social work interns to deepen and expand clinical skills and access learning opportunities while working with a highly diverse student population. The intern and their individual supervisor will collaborate throughout the practicum to support interns’ specific clinical interests, preparing them for a career in social work.
