Bio

I am a staff psychologist and member of the Muslim Mental Health Initiative at CPS. I identify as cis gender, Muslim, South Asian, able bodied and an immigrant from apartheid era South Africa. My clinical work focuses on challenging the western narrative that we need “fixing” in order to fit in and be productive.  My approach to care is founded on the belief that our sense of connection to our community and ourselves should determine our well-being and happiness. I practice from a Liberation Psychology, relational and decolonial lens.  My areas of clinical interest include intersecting identities, grief, systemic oppression and relationships.
